Vocal range test
Sing your lowest and highest comfortable notes. In 20 seconds you will see your range and the voice type it is closest to.
Sing your lowest comfortable note, then your highest. We'll measure your range and show you the result.
Sound never leaves your device. The result is saved in this browser, and you can use it to find songs that fit your range.
How the test works
The test listens to your voice and keeps only notes you held steadily for a second, so a crack or a breath does not widen the range.
- Use headphones or a quiet room: background music confuses note detection.
- Sing an open vowel like "ah" and glide slowly, without forcing.
- Your result is saved in this browser, so you can come back to it.
Questions about vocal range
What is a vocal range?
It is the span from the lowest to the highest note you can sing. It is written with note names and octave numbers: A2–E4 means from A of the second octave to E of the fourth.
Why measure my vocal range?
So we can fit the exercises to your voice. In the Doremio app you'll only get notes, warm-ups and songs you can sing comfortably.
How accurate is an online test?
Notes are detected with the same algorithm as in the Doremio app. Accuracy depends on your microphone and on noise around you; a note counts only after it is held for a second.
Which voice types are there?
Typical ranges: bass E2–E4, baritone A2–A4, tenor C3–C5, alto F3–F5, mezzo-soprano A3–A5, soprano C4–C6. Real voices often go beyond them.
Can I expand my range?
Yes, regular warm-ups gradually add notes at both ends. Sing without strain and stop if your throat hurts.
Practice singing in tune
In the Doremio app you sing songs and warm-ups and see in real time whether you hit the notes.
